| Safely packing your album to ensure its safety should be the most important part of your order. First, make sure you use a sturdy, strong box that can comfortably hold your albums as well as extra packing material, such as styrofoam peanuts or bubble wrap to cushion your albums during shipping (although please do not pack the bubble wrap so tightly with tape that it is impossible to remove). The USPS has free large Priority Shipping boxes that fit up to 4 records perfectly, along with a good amount of packing material. A great way of packing your albums is to place a layer of packing material beneath your album, then another on top. Several shipping specialty stores sell special thin cardboad mailers that are specifically made for albums, but do not allow for any extra packing material. These are excellent, but may not be quite as safe. We DO NOT recommend taking a regular box, folding it flat, and then putting your album inside it. Trust us: you can write "Fragile" and "Do Not Bend" on it as often as you like, and the box will get folded directly on one of the areas where the box flaps fold. If the shipping store assures you it will be safe, either explain to him that you would feel more comfortable packing it in a different way or find another store where they value the contents of your package. Also, do not use a padded envelope; these offer absolutely no protection from any rough handling your package may receive. Always insure your album for an appropriate amount, but keep in mind in a worst case scenario you will have to justify the value of your package to the shipping company. You may also wish to request a tracking service so you can verify your album has been received. Please remember that Ferris Mastering cannot be held responsible for any damage incurred to your album during shipping. Your order's safety is important to us: please help us keep it safe. |
